Consideration of the manufacturability of a product should start as early in the product development process as possible. Often, design engineers do not have much manufacturing engineering experience and conversely, manufacturing engineers do not always have design experience. If these two groups do not collaborate throughout the entire development process, difficulties in transfer to manufacturing are likely to arise.
